Brunch with Yetta Kurland

July 1st, 2009 at 9:00 am

Chris Ward, John Phillips, Broadway's Nellie McKay and Yetta Kurland

On Sunday, July 12, come for brunch and stay for change!

JivamukTea Cafe in Union Square is hosting a very special brunch benefiting NYLHV with guest Yetta G. Kurland. Yetta is a vegan civil rights attorney who is running for City Council in the 3rd Council District, which includes the West Village, Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen.

This race is particularly important because Yetta is running against Christine Quinn, the animals’ #1 opponent in City government. Quinn has blocked and/or opposed numerous bills to protect animal welfare, including the pets in housing bill and the carriage horse ban. Under her leadership, NYLHV’s entire legislative agenda has been stalled, despite overwhelming support from the majority of the City Council.

We need your help to get Yetta elected and defeat Christine Quinn! Please join us for brunch, meet Yetta and learn how you can get involved. As an added bonus, JivamukTea Cafe is donating 20% of the brunch profits to NYLHV.

What: An intimate brunch with Yetta G. Kurland
When: Sunday, July 12 12pm - 4pm
Where: JivamukTea Cafe, 841 Broadway, 2nd Floor

We hope to see you there!
